A couple of weeks ago, I got an email recently which informed me that my website was going to go offline if I didn't pay the outstanding bills. I was a little surprised to say the least, but I decided to investigate. I noticed that for some reason my account hadn't been billed and automatically paid for months, and Layershift were catching up on their missed billing. I spoke at length with their billing team and sorted out the issue, but I then decided to ask the question, "Can I move my hosting account from your US servers to the UK ones?". I was expecting a emphatic "no chance", but the tech support guy just said, "sure, when?".
Here is where the tech support went above and beyond the call of duty; in order to facilitate the move, the tech support guy had sent me an email at 11:30pm with the some questions he needed to know before he could do the server move. I assumed that he must have been working in the USA, but after joking with him about "working late", he told me that he had signed in at home to his email account and sent me that email so that the server move could go ahead first thing in the morning. Now that's service!
The next morning, before I knew it, they had completely moved all my hosting including email and billing services from their US servers over to the UK ones. They also gave me access to the old email server while the change occured in case any emails went to the old server. I also took the opportunity to upgrade my websites to PHP5 and MySQL5 (something that was long overdue). The whole process went without a hitch, and I even found time to create a brand new website using the fantastic Drupal 6.0.
What more can I say, Layershift are simply the best Hosting company, and possibly the best company I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with (British Gas I spit on you!). They are always pleasant, and can't do enough to ensure you're always more than satisfied. Layershift, i salute you!
Note: This is not ass-kissing, it's appreciation of a job well done.
